چکیده

We aimed to identify the most reliable cutoff points for changes in somatosensory (SEPs) and motor (MEPs) evoked potentials predict postoperative deterioration after brain surgery. The data of 104 patients who had undergone surgery between December 2015 2016 were reviewed. muscle strength evaluated on day before, within 48 h 4 weeks sensitivity specificity existing alarm criteria intraoperative SEP MEP evaluated, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed optimal cutoffs. sensitivities pre-existing SEPs MEPs 8.3% 16.7%, with specificities 96.7% 95.7%, respectively. ROC estimated discriminating latency change amplitude 7.1% 21.0%, With these cutoffs, 66.7% 91.7%, 79.4% 55.4%, For surgery, we suggest new values a prolongation or 21.0% reduction amplitude.

Monitoring of Motor and Somatosensory Evoked Potentials During Spine Surgery: Intraoperative Changes and Postoperative Outcomes

OBJECTIVE To evaluate whether the combination of muscle motor evoked potentials (mMEPs) and somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) measured during spinal surgery can predict immediate and permanent postoperative motor deficits. METHODS mMEP and SEP was monitored in patients undergoing spinal surgery between November 2012 and July 2014. mMEPs were elicited by a train of transcranial electrical...

Somatosensory evoked potentials during spinal surgery.

A L T H O U G H anaesthetists routinely use a myriad of monitors to assess the integrity of many organ systems, we do not commonly monitor the nervous system. During many operative procedures nervous tissue is placed at considerable risk of injury yet, for the most part, continues to go unmonitored. One of the most common operative procedures which places nervous tissue at risk is spinal surger...

A New Measure for Monitoring Intraoperative Somatosensory Evoked Potentials

OBJECTIVE To propose a new measure for effective monitoring of intraoperative somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP) and to validate the feasibility of this measure for evoked potentials (EP) and single trials with a retrospective data analysis study. METHODS The proposed new measure (hereafter, a slope-measure) was defined as the relative slope of the amplitude and latency at each EP peak com...

Intraoperative Monitoring of Motor-Evoked Potentials for Supratentorial Tumor Surgery

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and clinical efficacy of motor evoked potential (MEP) monitoring for supratentorial tumor surgery. METHODS Between 2010 and 2012, to prevent postoperative motor deterioration, MEP recording after transcranial stimulation was performed in 84 patients with supratentorial brain tumors (45 males, 39 females; age range, 24-80 years;...

[Intraoperative monitoring of somatosensory evoked potentials].

Somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) were monitored during 20 operations, 13 for tumors in the posterior fossa and upper cervical region and seven for the treatment of aneurysms or carotid cavernous fistulae. Monitoring was technically satisfactory in 16 patients (80%). In two patients, monitoring was compromised by contamination with electrical noise. Two patients with mass le sions i...
